iPhone 5 Jailbreak (Untethered) – Not As Close As We’d Like
About a month ago we got word that progress on jailbreaking the iPhone 5 has been made, but the process is very slow and arduous thanks to the new iPhone 5 hardware and the way iOS 6 has been secured. About three weeks later we got word from the Chronic Dev team and we’ve learned that they’ve managed to jailbreak an iPhone 5, but we’ve also been told that the code is not ready for the masses and there’s still work to be done.
Nevertheless, hearing that they’ve made noticeable progress gave us hopes that the code might be released soon, but as it turns out that’s not necessarily going to be the case.
Untethered iPhone 5 Jailbreak – Still Pretty Far Away
There are some fishy websites out there (such as EasyUnlockiPhone) claiming that they’ve been able to fully jailbreak iOS 6.01 and before we go on, we’d like to give you a bit of warning and inform you that those claims are nothing but hogwash. To be more precise, iOS 6 appears to be one of the most locked down operating systems encountered by the developer community.
As you can see in the tweet above, posted by Joshua Hill a.k.a. p0sixninja – one of the most active devs in the “closed circle” of people that are working on permanently jailbreaking iOS6, the process is long and slow, it causes some headaches and there’s still a lot of work to be done.
With that in mind, there are still at least a few weeks of hard work before we’ll be able to benefit from untethered jailbreak on our iOS 6 running devices, so if in case you happen to look for a jailbreaking solution for your iPhone 5, there’s nothing else to be done other than to sit back, take a deep breath and just wait for news from the developer community. And whatever you do, don’t rush into suspicious websites in order to throw your money away for so called “untethered jailbreaks solutions”, because all you’ll end up with is a hole in your pockets.
